It looks like you won't have much luck with getting your laptop back from taking that action. As far as the law will see it, she has done nothing wrong; She didn't exactly steal the laptop either, so there is very little for the law to do or to indeed side with you on. Your case holds very little water. If anything, you will find any law brought in to support her side only. Don't waste your time on this endeavor.
Have you actually tried talking to the parents? It is certainly a less turbulent approach than what you are suggesting here.
