Self line move binding onto U a non- moving line K is equally bad. Had U moved and J was non moving, that would be a good sign.

A retreating line is retreating when the toss was performed. A retreating line needs to be not supported (prodduce or nurture) to be retreating. A retreating line being supported can not retreat. That was what I meant when I said the self line was not a retreating line.

In reading hex, you need to look at the dynamic aspects, the changing aspects. The circumstances or environments of any lines, especially the J, U and or Appointed together with the enemy and friend will interact to determine the outcome as well as how you need to see the changing nature of the lines in action. The static nature of the lines when the hex was borned was the initial given, the current state of affair, but when reading hex, we are more interested in the final outcome more than the current situation. After all isn't it the predictive nature of the future is more valuable than the current situation?
