About 3 weeks ago I read a book about various forms of divination. One form I took an interest in is I Ching.I have since bought 2 books on I Ching and I found a website I also use to check the meanings.

My life is a real mess so I need something to give me guidance.I'm trying to sort my life out.

Do you use I Ching for your own guidance? How has this helped you?

I use the 6 coin method. It just feels right to me.

Lately I have been trying to get some guidance in regards to relationships. There seems to be encouragement to go in 1 direction which will be fulfilling.

Any advice on using I Ching for self guidance?
Chris.

Something of note: No one comes to use stuff like the I Ching or any other method of divination unless they need guidance or have other problems. So don't worry.

Well, I do. But not as the final decider on whether I do something or not. I only use it to evaluate situations. Remember the I Ching is a guide, not a substitute for our own decision making. This is very important, remember it. It can tell you things, but you have the final say as to whether things happen like that.

There are many methods available. If you feel fine with the 6 coin method. Stick with it.

If you post your hexagram in the Free Readings board, the other members of the board can help decipher it for you.

Better not to use it at all (means you're doing OK invariably). But if you have to. Respect it. Simple as that. smile.gif

Thank you for your reply.

I have been using I Ching to get direction but I have made decisions. The questions about relationships have been given positive answers which I feel that I can do something about this.

I even use a book called "Lucky Day Finder",By Sasha Fenton & Jonathon Dee,to plan when I'm going to instigate this matter.

These are the 2 I Ching books I bought:

1)"The I Ching made easy:be your own psychic advisor using the worlds oldest oracle".By Roderick Soreell and Amy Max Sorrell.
And,

2)"The everyday I ching" By Sarah Dening.

I chose both these books because they are easy to understand.I am learning.

I've been using the I Ching for a few months. I have the I Ching Workbook by R. L. Wing and also a direct translation by Thomas Cleary.

Of course people can spend lifetimes trying to learn it, but I think I'm making good progress. I use the 4 coin method myself (I like dimes, because they're small.) One of the best things I did was to just read the original text and interpret its metephors myself - I started getting mush better results from that than from just blindly following the workbook's claims.

I've also divided up the 6 lines into groups of two. The first 2 lines are Fact, the second 2 are Surroundings, and the final 2 are Spirit. These are mostly useful in noticing where changing lines fall, to understand better what is changing or needs to change -- I just had a birthday, and for it I did a reading on what my next year will be like. Both of my Fact and both of my Spirit lines were changing, but not my Surroundings. So, it sounds like I'll be making some changes but not the people around me so much.
